Project Overview
CLIENT
DIPLOMA Assignment
BRIEF
Create music festival poster and merchandise for the Tomorrowland Music Festival in two locations.
CONCEPT
The target audience for this project is young 20 to 20 festival goers, so the design needed to be young, fun, carnival, exciting and out of this world, just like the 4 days long event, currently run annually in Brussels in Europe. I selected Sydney and London as the 2 destinations with opposite hemisphere's and seasons. This enabled me to create a summer and winter range of merchandise suited to summer in Australia and winter in the UK. The merchandise had to be unique and original to steer away from T-shirts, caps, wrist bands etc. I selected board shorts and skateboards, bikinis and sarongs for Sydney to go with the beach lifestyle and hot weather. For London I selected skivvies, puffer jackets, beanies, scarves and socks for cool temp and the outdoors adventure lifestyle. For the posters, I selected iconic landmarks from each city that were historic and new age. I created the imagery in my signature line style adding textural elements in terms of a blue starry sky and star circles to reflect night and a magical atmosphere. The circle was used in an Art Nouveau form to provide a window into a different world that is the Tomorrowland experience. I created a custom font for the title.
