BRIEF
Create a poster for MYER Department Store to advertise a new autumn fashion range drawing inspiration a historical period.
CONCEPT
For this project I selected the Art Deco Period of the1920s and 1930s which has since had many revivals due to its popularity, elegance, opulence and sophistication. I created a vector illustration of a classic female with cropped hair. bright makeup, attired in flapper hat, adorned with feathers, classic deco geometric jewellery and risque shoulder less dress with plunging neckline. Typical of the time she is out at night in a booth smoking a cigarette. It was a time of expression post WWI and liberation of the female gender. The image is styled with art deco features and typography from the era. Inspiration and research for the project was from the TV series "The Cable Girls".
